Abbeville County dates back to the 1700’s Abbeville County is rich in history from time the Cherokee Indians. Dr. Joannes de la Howe is credited for naming Abbeville after his native city in France. Jefferson Davis held his last war cabinet meeting at Burt-Stark Mansion.To day Abbeville is a modern county with Industrial Parks, New Schools, College, Churches, Arts Center, Community Centers, Opera House, 19th Century Homes, Historical Sites, Recreational Areas, State Park, & Lakes.

Our Great Grandfather Ed Sloan was born in Abbeville County, South Carolina May of 1850 and died June 29, 1929 in Anderson Belton, S.C..He married Clara Davis of El bert, Ga. They were farmers and the following were born from this union; John Wesley b 1874 in Abbeville ,SC Ann, b.1876 in Abbeville, SC Gracey b.1882 Abbeville, S. C. and d .April 18,1930 in Anderson, S. C. Clara b.April, 1886 in Abbeville, S.C. and died. Jan. 8,1934 in Anderson,S.C. Frank, b. May, 1887 in Abbeville, S.C. Artie Mae,Abbeville, S.C
